Cutting out soda is an important advice that most of us often receive. Reducing the intake of soda, either by avoiding carbonated teas and coffee or by reducing alcohol consumption, will lead to many health benefits. Cutting out soda is an easy way of reducing the total calorie intake by as much as 350 calories.
Most people who have left soda consumption have seen a weight loss of as many as 15 pounds which is quite significant. Thus soda intake adds to increase in weight and obesity that is a cause of lot of problems, including heart diseases, muscle and arthritic pain etc.
An easy way of addressing obesity is by cutting out the entire sugar intake and soda contains elements of fructose that could lead to increased weight. There are two very notable disadvantages of soda. Firstly, they have caffeine content which could be harmful to the body and amongst other reasons could lead to osteoporosis. This usually occurs due to the reduction in the density of bones leading to pores and overall decrease in the strength of the bones.
Secondly those who consume lot of soda are less likely to consume energy drinks, fruit juices or milk, indirectly harming the health and hygiene. The phosphoric acid present in many types of cola causes chemical imbalance in the body. The calcium present in the system will react with the acid balancing each other off. Overall reduction of calcium content will lead to bad growth and health of the bones that could prove dangerous.
Soda not only increases the weight of the body but it also adversely harms the system by weakening its sugar processing ability. This in turn could lead to diabetes. This is because the large carbohydrates that enter through soda put lot of pressure on the insulin producing cells. Not only does the sugar producing ability of the body is affected, but the enamel of the tooth is also dissolved by the soda content leading to poor dental health.
The calcium in the bones and the excess acid of the soda also lead to gross mineral imbalance in the body. Eventually due to all the calcium washed out from the urine causes kidney stones. It may lead to other chronic kidney diseases too. High blood pressure and high cholesterol along with increased chances of liver cirrhosis are the other dangers of soda intake.
